CAMP WAMP JOB OPPORTUNITIES

Camp Counselor or CIT (Counselor in Training)

The summer staff counselors and aides are to provide leadership and guidance to all campers through a variety of games, crafts, sports, hiking and camping activities. Counselors should express a true love and appreciation for the outdoors and be able to work in an outdoor environment for long periods of time. He/she must have the ability to observe and assess camper safety in all situations, maintain high energy levels and enthusiasm, and show compassion, maturity, and sensitivity in dealing with special needs children. The counselor should seek to understand the campers he/she works with and use the uniqueness of the camp setting and program to help fulfill the Camp Wamp’s mission which states: It’s not what you can’t do …it’s what you CAN do!

CAMP NURSE

The Camp Nurse is responsible for assisting in providing health and safety services to campers and staff. He/She promotes high standards in all aspects of health and wellness at camp and serves as a role model to campers and staff by His/her actions, appearance, manners, language, and general conduct. The Camp Nurse must be certified as a registered nurse in the state of California and have a working knowledge of major disabilities.

Lifeguard

Lifeguards oversee the waterfront lake and pier, and maintain a constant awareness of swimmers, boaters, and people with floats. They practice lifeguard skills and assists in activities and events dealing with the water, including offering basic instruction of boat use. The lifeguard is professional and keeps an upbeat attitude while enforcing all beach rules and working with children with disabilities.

Camp Chef

The Camp Chef is responsible for providing meals for campers and staff during the summer camp program. He/She is responsible for ordering food and preparing meals for special diets. The Chef follows state health department regulations pertaining to safe food practice and works with administrators and kitchen staff to ensure that each member, guest and visitor receives the highest caliber of service.
