Camper Spotlight:

The Wampler Foundation is thrilled to celebrate the incredible achievement of alumni camper Aidden Whitsett, who recently graduated from Carlsbad High School in Carlsbad, CA.  Aidden has been a camper at Camp Wamp since 2019. We have had the honor of watching him grow and flourish into the outstanding young man he is today.

Muscular Dystrophy:

Aidden has muscular dystrophy Duchenne, a rare genetic disorder that affects his muscle strength and endurance. While this condition might limit him in certain physical ways, Aidden has always demonstrated an unwavering spirit and an unbreakable determination to live life to the fullest.

Hilarity:

One of the things we love most about Aidden is his hilarious sense of humor. His humor never fails to leave everyone in stitches. One unforgettable incident occurred during the Camp Wamp talent show last summer when Aidden fearlessly stepped forward to demonstrate his comedic prowess. In a bold act that combined both bravery and laughter, he volunteered to shave his head in the name of comedy. As the clippers buzzed and locks of hair fell to the ground, Aidden’s infectious laughter filled the room, leaving everyone with uncontrollable bouts of giggles. His willingness to go to such great lengths, quite literally, for the sake of amusement showed his unique ability to find hilarity in the most unexpected places.

“It’s about what you CAN do”:

At Camp Wamp, we always say, “It’s about what you CAN do,” and Aidden embodies that motto in everything he does. Despite the challenges he faces, he is always eager to try new things, take on new challenges, and never lets his disability slow him down. Take a look at his first fish:

His achievements are a testament to his grit and determination. Aidden’s graduation is an amazing milestone in his life, but we know that this is only the beginning. His future is full of possibilities and opportunities, and we cannot wait to see all that he will accomplish. Aidden will be attending Palomar College in the fall.

Aidden’s success is a reminder that nothing is impossible with determination, hard work, and a positive attitude. His journey is an inspiration to all of us at Camp Wamp. We are grateful to have played a small part in his incredible story.

We are proud of you, and we love you, Aidden! Congratulations on your graduation, and we can’t wait to see all that you will accomplish in the future!
