Camp Nurse
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Camp Nurse is responsible for assisting in providing health and safety services to campers and staff. Promote high standards in all aspects of health and wellness at camp. Serve as a role model to campers and staff by your actions, appearance , manners, language, and general conduct. Participate enthusiastically in camp activities and assist in those as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum age, 25
- Work under standing orders of a physician
- Certified as a registered nurse in the state of California
- Working knowledge of major disabilities
- Pass drug Test
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Compile all necessary first aid supplies and equipment
- Review all required medical forms
- Dispense prescribed medications
- Be directly responsible to the Camp Director
- Will be on call 24 hours/7 days a week
- Carry and answer a walkie talkie at all times
- Judge when outside medical help or hospitalization is necessary
- Watch for signs of illness or complication
- Advise each counselor regarding their individual campers needs including medication,
specialized diet, allergies, and personal needs - Conduct training on health education, sanitation regulations and first aid
- Maintain a complete daily medical log of all medication issues
- Administer first aid when necessary
- Maintain infirmary to keep it sanitary and in an orderly fashion is mandatory
- Make health inspections of all staff and campers upon arrival and departure of camp
- Sleeping in or around the infirmary is mandatory
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ability to understand and implement safety regulations and procedures
- Ability, both to visually and auditorily, to identify safety hazards and monitor quest and staff behavior and enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures
- Ability to walk, stand, bend and stretch
- Ability to lift/assist campers and staff
